Transcriptome data
CanISO provides search function of large-scale transcriptome data with a gene of interest to view expression profiles of the gene and its transcript isoforms according to a selected sample type (normal or tumor). Furthermore, two types of comparison functions are supported in the CanISO, enabling to compare expression patterns of them between not only normal and tumor conditions but also dog and human species. Using these functions, users can identify a major isoform of a gene according to the given condition, the differences on expression and exon structure between known and novel transcript isoforms, switching of major isoforms according to the condition changes. In addition, alternative splicing events observed between transcript isoforms are summarized in tables and visualized using bar charts according to the categories that defined in this study.
To support the functions, we obtained expression levels of genes and transcript isoforms in normal and tumor conditions for mammary tissues of domestic dogs, and downloaded expression data for breast tissues of humans from GTEx Portal. In this page, precalculated median TPM is used as a unit of expression level to show expression patterns of a selected gene in a group or between two conditions.
