KoNA/KOBIC

During the last decade, a massive increase in high-throughput sequencing data has raised several challenging problems including transfer, storage and sharing of the big data. The Korean Nucleotide Archive (KoNA) is a repository for the raw sequence reads encompassing a wide range of genomic data. In 2021, KoNA has collected more than 380 TB of sequencing data generated by several national genome projects including Korea Post-Genome Project. The database adopts the standard operating procedure (SOP) proposed by the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration (INSDC), thereby providing data interoperability. To ensure fast and reliable data transfer, the users can upload and download sequencing data and/or metadata by GBox, a high-speed transmission system. Furthermore, the downloaded data can be directly processed by using the Bio-Express, a large-scale genomic data analysis cloud service.
