Description | Despite previous studies regarding the correlation between viral concentration and the manifestation of infection, it remains unclear whether exposure to a greater viral inoculum could determine a higher risk of developing severe COVID-19. Although intuitive, it has been challenging to obtain such dose-response data. In addition, the detailed immune responses to varying doses of virus infection are not yet completely understood in K18-hACE2 transgenic mice, in which hACE2 expression is controlled by the epithelial cell cytokeratin-18 (K18) promoter for efficient SARS-CoV-2 infection. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the overall transcriptome profile of the lungs and spleen of K18-hACE2 transgenic mice intranasally inoculated with 1×10^5 and 1×10^2 PFU of SARS-CoV-2. |
