Introduce
Korean Bioinformation Center (KOBIC) was established in 2001 as NGIC (National Genome Information Center). Since 2006, its role has been expanded to include management of bioresource and biomaterials information. It conducts basic research, application development and informatin service in the field of bioinformatics. Its group of more than fifty scientists, working in their area of specialty in bioinformatics, has a highly multi-disciplinary profile (molecular biology, biochemistry, mathematics, physics, and computer science).
KOBIC is one of the largest bioinformatics groups in Asia. It is presently affiliated with KRIBB (Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology). It builds a network with which Korean bioinformatics groups from universities, medical centres, research institutes and industry can closely collaborate. Its three major collaborative programmes are research, support and training.
